Back-to-School
Getting ready for the new school year is not only emotionally difficult,
but financially tough as well, especially for
the children of CPS. Going to school is even more stressful for these
students, because most of them do not have a family and some have
been in foster homes for their entire lives. With the hard work of
our volunteers, many of the children will start school for the first
time in their life with new clothes, shoes that fit, and the appropriate
school supplies. Not only that, but they will look great too!
BEAR Back-to-School provides two brand new uniforms
and school supplies to over 4,000 abused and neglected children in
Harris County.
Volunteers are needed annually during the months of
June and July to help sort and package uniforms, school supplies,
shoes and hygiene items.
BEAR
also hosts an annual BEAR Back-to-School Party. For more information
on the BEAR Back to School Program, contact Jessica
at 713-940-3087.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, and must
have a criminal background check completed by BEAR prior to volunteering
for this event.
